In my experience the best outreach events I've been a part of have happened inside of public schools. This could be anything from an after school Bible Study to a concert or party at the school after an event like a football or basketball game. Depending on the school you might be limited in what you can say, but it gives you and your students a chance to meet and interact with a lot of kids in their own environment. I also agree with Chad - students inviting other students is the way to go, but for them to genuinely want to do this the church/youth group has to be a place they love so much that they can't wait to tell their friends about it. that th

Teach your students to invite their friends into everything they are already involved in with your ministry - Sundays, midweek, small groups, etc. We've found that events have not brought long term participants. Students already invite friends to hang out with them in other social contexts, so just teach them to invite them along in their life with Jesus.
