Are you expected to keep track of your hours?
I have never kept track of my hours, but I know some guys do and some guys are asked to do so by the leadership of the church. What is expected of you in this area? When do you take time off (sabbath)?

I'm not expected to keep track of my hours, but on my own initiative I've started keeping track of how I spend my time. I think I need to start cutting back on church stuff, actually.
Fridays are my day off and I protect them from church stuff pretty well.

I'm not required to, but I do for a number of reasons. First, like some of the other answerers, I want to have hard evidence of my work ethic should it ever be questioned. Second of all, it helps me get the hours in that I am expected to without completely overdoing it some weeks or under-doing it others. |

I actually DO keep track of my hours. Now I only record the hours i am in my office or at a church service or activity or something directly related to my ministry. I could never track all the time i am on the phone or computer doing stuff for the yg. i am not asked to record the hours but i do anyway just in case someone decides to question my work ethic. One look at my time log and they'll understand what i do! My day off is Friday (and Sat if nothing going on, activity-wise) and my pastor actually asks me to take more time off, though I rarely do. I like to stay above board to keep any doubts about my work and effort to rest. |

I don't have to keep track either, but I also work to be "above reproach" in this area. People can easily judge the youth pastor because our work involve teens. But I make sure and put in plenty of office hours along with my outside ministry time. |

i just do my best to make 40 hours and stay as close as possible... helps me from getting overworked, but also keeps me from being lazy. |

No timeclock here. My pastor is responsible and goes to bat for me if anyone was to question my work ethic. Plus, I have invited a few to hang with me on just one wednesdays...no takers. :) Days off are Friday and Saturday. Plus what I call comp time...this is time that I am not around due to large event...late night with students...I was very clear about that during the interview process and I have never had a question about time...of course there always those that think we work just two days a week. |

My wife keeps track of my hours and often reminds my how much time I have spent in ministry and how much time I haven't spent at home. It is tough to balance family and ministry as their is ALWAYS another deadline to meet, more work to get done, and another event to put together. |

I am not required to track time and would struggle with doing so. Ministry is so sporadic it would be a pain to have to write down everything little thing I did. |
