Back to school
So I am a little late in the game this year. I have had a crazy busy summer. As I sit down to plan out the fall the next couple of days, I wonder what people are doing for back to school. What are you guys doing to kick the fall off? What are some things that you guys are going to be doing this fall?

Our back to school event is the grand opening of our cafe that we are building in the youth room, its nothing big, but its definitely a change to the youth room. So we will have that open. Were not doing any sort of BBQ or whatever, because thats what our summer sundays were. Instead we will probably have the night run more like a typical youth night, but the game will be more of a summer trivia game type deal, and the message is going to be more of a challenge for where we are going this year in terms of teaching. Its on a friday night, and after youth group, well have a lock in type deal, PS3's, nerf wars, etc. The kids will know this isnt what we do at youth group, but our youth group does this, if you know what I mean. |

We have limped through summer with our Wed. night meetings being very sparse and cancelled our Sun. night meetings because my kids scattered like cockroaches when school let out. Our BTS event is going to be a luau swim party at the home of one of our members. We've been doing youth group long enough that our regulars won't feel like this is the bait n switch, but it will get some of those who have gotten complacent excited about coming back. We'll have our band out there to lead worship, some hot dogs, and maybe a pool side movie. This will hopefully give us some momentum to get through the Labor Day weekend where we usually cancel church bc nobody shows up anyway. |
