Check-in for youth nights
We are about to move into a new youth space, a renovated basement of a house our church purchased. We're really excited.
Up until now, our Wednesday night program has all happened in family homes. Combining them all in one space means we will have a lot more students to keep track of. I know some churches use a check-in system to help ease their liability.
That seems cold/uninviting, but I understand the reasoning behind it. What are your personal experiences/thoughts on keeping tabs on who is there by making them check-in?

We use a similar system as Soulshaper, but we don't have internet access, so I built a form in Open Office Base that we have students check in with just their name and a phone number. If you would like, I could upload the file for you. |

We use electronic sign-ins thru a web-based program called www.youthtracker.net. We have 6 laptops setup at our entrance and kids are asked to sign-in when they come in. New student info is collected through this program. The great thing is that the info is typed in rather than handwritten, so we can actually read it. |
