I don't journal, but I blog. To me it's sort of the same thing, but done in a way others can benefit from it and it's not so me-focused. I just opened up a free account at wordpress.com.

I use WriteRoom. It blanks out the rest of my desktop which is great for minimizing distractions or works in a text box. It's simple and real easy to use. I used to prep my sermons on it. Now I journal with it.

I used to use OmmWriter on my Mac. It simply saves text files in the folder of your choosing. It is a full screen app that blocks out your other distractions. I found it very helpful. It also plays some atmospheric music that you can turn on or off. I always left it on.

I now have an iPad, so I use an app called "Journal" it's pretty basic, and is password protected.

I tried MaxJournal for the iPad, but it crashed several times on me destroying what I had written, not recomended.

I used to always journal, then I got to where I only journaled when things were good, now I never journal. I have come to a place where I need some accountable from someone and they suggested to go to prayer more disciplined and to get back to journaling. I guess I am always afraid my husband will read what I write.
