Do you have a mentors?

I struggle with the fact that I have very few outside friends in the town I live because I moved her for a job and everyone I know is connected to the church. I am looking for mentor and wonder if anyone has one and if you do, what do you talk about, ask, confess, etc. Is your's for personal or ministry?

0 Votes I think this is SO imperative. Not sure exactly what we're calling a "mentor" here. I network & resource with local youth pastors which is great for fostering ideas & such but I have also have a valued relationship with someone wiser than myself to that I meet with. He's on our worship team and in a men's small group with me but is not in ministry. He holds just a professional job but he & his wife are an incredible couple in the Word & leaders in our church. He and I meet regularly. We talk about life because following Jesus is hard. I'm not so sure how to exactly separate personal and ministry b/c the personal stuff just seems to spill over all the time. 0 Votes I don't have a regular mentor that I talk to at a scheduled time each week, but I do have a list of guys outside my town that I call up when I have an issue, need direction, or advice about something that I can't make public or am not ready to make public yet. 0 Votes I have a friend/mentor who I meet with weekly. Although we are the same age, he is the pastor of a church other than the one where I serve. We often share personal as well as ministry issues. We are able to be real/honest with each other and also challenge one another with what God has been teaching us in His Word. We end each week with prayer. I can tell you it is one of the things I look forward to every week. Pray that God would reveal to you a person to come along side you. I also have a few other guys I talk to as needed for advice. If you are talking about accountability. I have a fellow staff person I talk to about all kinds of stuff including moral character issues. I also have the pastor that married us (who is a good friend of mine) that i talk to on the phone with once a month or so. 0 Votes Yeah.. for the past 8 years since i started involve in the youth ministry, I have been mentored by 3 different people. The most but not the ONLY thing we talked about is ministry.
