Do you track attendance?
It's something that I've never thought about before. Really, we have a small youth group, so seeing who isn't there really isn't hard, but I'm thinking more along the lines of attendance patterns and habits. I'd like to not "try to remember" and instead be able to know for sure who was and wasn't there two weeks ago.

We track attendance, mostly to keep track of trends. It is really helpful to know, for instance, that we tend to get a slump about halfway through January that lasts for 4-6 weeks. We used to get really discouraged, now we know to expect it (and to crank up the one-to-one relational ministry during that time). |

Like Power, we use youthtracker.net also. We have used it for over 3 years. We take attendance at every event from Sunday School to small groups to outreach events. The program is fairly cheap and is all online. The best part is that all my adult leaders use it and keep track of their specific students. You can also do online registration with payments, different reports and much more. |

We started tracking attendance this year for several reasons. First, we wanted to make sure we were not missing people who had dropped off for a few weeks. Second, for security purposes we wanted to know who was here. Some parents dropped off kids and the kids never actually came upstairs to the program. Third, we wanted a history of what weeks are big attendance weeks and when do things slow down. Our church uses ACS so we do attendance through that program. Any system you use will be somewhat work intensive so this would be a great thing to delegate to a volunteer. |

I think it is important to keep up with your students attendance patterns, to evaluate ministry growth (not just numbers but also moving students through a process), and to make plans for growth. My favorite way to do this I discovered this year. It is youthtracker. This online access service not only tracks attenance for all your programs, but it handles registration for events including money and forms, allows all your volunteer leaders access, does mass emailing and texting, tracks decisions and stages of growth, and much more. You can upload photos, forms, track schools and contacts, and it statistically keeps up with your group at a glance. Check it out, I love it and so does my secretary and leaders. There is a demo program. Link Details: 1 year ago
