Rent a Student day is always a great way to raise cash. people in the church get to Rent a kid for a day to come to thier house for whatever. Yardwork or just play games. Others I like are small bussiness ventures. We always have a small business set up to help the kids raise money. (IE vending machine route, paper route, etc.) I really like silent auctions, $30 a plate dinners, and concerts with cover charges. These are all great ways to get money . Several through the year will help stock pile money for those times of want or need. The key is to think ahead. we usual have $3000 extra for times like these.
I never pay full price for kids to go either. They have to have some sort of buy in.

One we did recently was hand out the mini cans of Pringles (see if you can get them donated by a store or the person buying them) and hand them out after church. We asked for change in exchange for the chips. The idea was to eat the chips then use them as a change jar for the youth. We had everything from checks to change to $20 bills come back

We just did a great fundraiser that was quick and easy to do. We sold breakfast casseroles to our Sunday morning bible study groups. Here's what we did:
1. Took orders from each class one Sunday morning. We asked that they give a minimum donation of $15 per casserole ordered
2. The next Saturday night, students came up to the church and prepared the casseroles (they had to sit overnight)
3. Sunday morning, we cooked over 30 casseroles (we have a big kitchen with restaurant grade stuff to do it in, but if you dont, it's easy to send 1 or 2 casseroles with students to cook before they come to church)
4. During small groups, we delivered and collected money

we made over $900. Message me for more info

If you live in an area with a Casey's General Store and have a bake sale or car wash on their property the will match funds as well as provide the water. You can also ask that they donate pizza or donuts for your youth group to eat that day.
Also Casey's has pizza or doughnut cards that you can sell and you keep half the money from the sales.
Between the car wash, pizza card sales and the rummage sale we raised a significant amount of money last summer. It was enough to pay for two over night youth conventions for our group of 5 kids.

One thing we did that was a good money maker was a $5 bag rummage sale. We asked the congregation to donate any and everything they wanted to get rid of and we provided pick up service for those who needed it. The local grocery store donate paper bags and we sold them for $5 a big, fill it as full as you want for one price. For larger items that like furniture and such we just took donations.
One suggestion if you do this is to ask people to divide the clothes into bags and label them by size and gender to make your life much much easier. I spent a week sorting and getting ready and a lot of that could have been avoided.
