HELP me use tech. for a great video scavenger hunt!
In the past I do a video scavenger hunt for our Christmas party that the students love. However, I get all these video cameras (some way too old) and what ends up happening is that when the hunt is over it is a nightmare to try to show everyone's videos. Half won't hook up to the tv, they all use different cables, etc.
IS THERE A WAY FOR STUDENTS & LEADERS TO USE THEIR SMART PHONE AND THEN SEND THEIR VIDEOS TO A SITE (ie YOUTUBE) WHERE I CAN THEN ACCESS ALL OF THE VIDEOS ALREADY UPLOADED IN ONE PLACE? I CAN HOOK MY LAPTOP OF TO OUR TV NO PROBLEM.
I don't have a smart phone, so thus, the crazy question. If not, how might you improve the planning for a better streamed video event at the end of the night?

I've done this before. I just had kids send their videos to me directly via email. Dump them all in one folder on your computer and play them one by one. Or, if you have an extra couple minutes, dump each of them into a slideshow presentation so you can just click from one to the next. Thanks Tim. This situation reminds me of the video you posted on the use of technology. Instead of trying to use social media just for the sake of using it, I feel this is a great way to make it work for our ministry in pulling off a more professional program. |

When we've done scavenger hunts in the past, I've made sure that all the cameras have memory cards (SD, XD, or Compact Flash) and I have a little USB card reader that can handle any type of card you throw at it. I asked everyone who is bringing a camera to wipe the card before hand (I also checked each card before we started to make sure they were empty). When we got back together at the end, I just popped in one card at a time, and used Finder & Preview (I'm on mac) to show their pictures on the big screen. Thanks! This is a great idea, especially for our photo scavenger hunt! You mind sending that crazy volunteer over my way ;) |
