How can you tell you've been called into youth ministry ?
I have been questioning this for a long time, i have helped two youth pastors before at different churches not as a actual intern. I did that for about four years from junior year in Highschool till after i was out. I was asked by one youth pastor if i would train to take over after he left. I tried taking time to think and pray about it, i ended up not doing it because i thought i'd be to prideful since i was still in highschool and he ended up leaving soon after to help his family and one of the adults took over. I ended up going to school for autobody for a year which didn't work out and i stayed at my chuch and helped the youth pastor till he left. I feel bad for not helping, but i still feel like i should be in youth ministry.

You have a heart for that age group. You are willing to sacrafice your time, intercede for them and love them. |

I've heard a lot of pastors say that they couldn't see themselves doing anything but ministry, or that if they had to leave ministry they don't know what they'd do. I can totally relate to that feeling. When God places this call on your life, it becomes clear that this is simply what you were made to do and what you desire to do. Sensing that calling is more than a feeling, though it might start there. I believe it's also something that should and will be affirmed in you through your church and its leaders and pastors. i.e. if you think you're called but no one else does, you might want to reevaluate things. Do you feel God working on you in this area? Do you have ministry-related gifts? Do others see it too? Start there. I will say i have not enjoyed doing anything as much as working with youth, i find it fulfilling and i didn't mind giving my time. I go to a methodist church, the other church i helped at was baptist it made no difference to me even Though i heard poeple at my church didn't like i was going back and fourth. I was asked at the baptist church to take over, from the youth pastor who had also become the associate pastor, the main pastor and the adults agreed on me and yet i ended up not doing it. |
