How do you do college scholarship programs/process?
Our church is going to be redoing our college scholarship program, moving it from a budgeted item to a donation based account. Right now we try to budget $1000 per person who will be going to the Bible college we support.
I'm wanting to loosen up the colleges that are eligible, but offer scholarships on different levels, on specific case-by-case basis.
But, I was wondering what everyone else does? Anyone have any documents I could get some ideas from? Docs explaining how it works, or an actual application?

Some Bible colleges (like the one I attended) offer a matching program for money given by the student's church. Basically, the school will match (up to a specific amount) what the church gives for the student per semester. I imagine this would have to be paid at the beginning of each semester, so your church's donations would have to happen beforehand. |

We have several students at several Bible Colleges across the US. We treat them as a missionary project - almost like investing in the missionaries and ministry workers of tomorrow. Although we do receive minor donations toward this, the bulk of it comes from our mission money. We provide it as monthly support rather than one lump sum. Occasionally we will hire one or two of those students through the summer. They don't get paid much during the summer, but we give them a substantial scholarship in the fall. |
