The Series Has Become Too Classic
Love it or hate it, HBO’s hit vampire series True Blood shows no signs of slowing down – especially now that show creator Alan Ball announced today that he has just signed a new contract with HBO for another season.
Speaking at the True Blood panel for the summer Television Critics Association press tour, Ball laid to rest the rumors that fans have been spreading about True Blood coming to an end. Following True Blood season 2’s premiere, HBO quickly renewed the series for a third and fourth season. With that move, fans began to speculate whether or not season 4 would be his last.

We have 7-12th graders in youth. It works great for us. Wednesday nights are filled with Awana and youth so everyone is already there and can drop older students off. Some of the parents question this because of the stuff we should be talking about with the older students but the work around on that is do special high school and middle school trips that do not cost much and have the older discussions then. You can always leave them for the small group discussions also.

You might want to talk to the parents about what is and isn't too old for their Middle Schoolers. Many Middle Schoolers are already sexually active, addicted to pornography, using drugs/alcohol, dealing with violence & bullying, etc... I used to work in residential treatment with teen sex offenders many of them as young as 11 or 12 - almost all of them had been hooked on pornography since their elementary school years. High School is too late to start talking about a lot of that stuff.

Yes and no. We're together for Youth Group on Sunday nights (aside from breakout discussion time where we split by age and gender), and for our Wednesday night Bible Study. But for Sunday School the two are separated. We're a smaller church so we don't really have the resources to run two groups, although I've been involved in larger churches where splitting the groups up worked well. There are pros and cons either way, so you have to consider all of them and decide how to proceed, because the answer will be different for every group.

We have a great ministry going that is 7th - 12th grade. I tried separating them about 7 years ago and it about destroyed the group. It took almost 2 years to recover. We didn't have the luxury of having enough space for both groups on the same night, so high school moved to Sunday and junior high stayed on Wednesday, with the rational that AWANA was on Wednesday, so parents were already bringing younger siblings. Our experience was everyone bailed. Jr high wanted cool high schoolers, and high schoolers resented having to give up their Wednesday night youth group, so they skipped Sunday night, too!
