If your pastor has a clue, he should know that you've quit your other job to be more dedicated to the church. He also should realize that you can't move forward with your life only working at the church. Unless he is totally oblivious, he should be open to hearing your frustration. Do you have any other job leads (ministry or otherwise)? He may be thinking you want to resign soon. Be careful because you don't want to force your own resignation without having something lined up. I was ridiculously underpaid at my first p/t church job and it came down to me saying I've either got to go full-time or go somewhere else. God bless you in this difficult transition.

paint yourself green and say "you won't like me when I'm angry".

on a serious note, chances are, if they dont have the funds, they wont have the funds. if you need more hours, perhaps it's time to look around for a job similar. a 25 year old man with a part time job making 15 K a year is not enough to support a wife or family-- unless she supports you.

good luck on explaining that to your pastor. many churches and pastors don't get it... but many do.
