Nick was kidding but there are systems that can use finger prints, like they do in schools for lunch. Not sure on the cost. w

We use CCB it is all online and there is a touch screen attendance that can be used or there is a barcode scanner that you use to scan a printed sheet. We use that system for our whole church not just students.

This isn't my idea, I saw it either on here or another youth ministry site. I've heard of people using a computer with a google document that asked the students to type in their name and phone number, and then hit enter. The name was then added to a spreadsheet, but because it's a form the students can't see any one's info. Set up a computer and have it locked so the students can't do anything else, or have a leader supervise it.

That way you'll end up with a spreadsheet already done.

Are these 250 kids all in one room all at once?

You could have a card for each row and have the kids pass the card and write their names. Have someone double check the number of ppl in the row against the number of names on the card. Collect all the cards and you got your attendance. It'll take some time to enter the data into a computer.

Another idea is tattooing bar codes into the kid's wrists and scanning them when they come in. JUST KIDDING! (mark of the beast, anyone?)
