I'm trying to figure out how to fit a game, worship and a lesson all in to a 90 minute youth service. How do you do that? - MinistryQuestions.com | Ministry questions, answers, advice, and input from other ministry workers :: Answer

Thumbs up Thumbs down

My group runs from 6-7:30 pm & doors open/leaders show up @ 5:30. 5:30-6 is optional hangout/snack time.

The rest of the night can include a game, worship, a lesson & small group discussion. We don't always do music because I found it to be draining on the students in the band to have to show up an hour & a half early every week. When we do have music it looks like this:

-6:00-6:05: Welcome/Announcements
-6:05-6:15: Short game
-6:15-6:30: Worship
-6:30-7:00: Lesson
-7:00-7:30: Small Groups

If we don't do music we play a longer game. Some weeks music or the lesson might be longer & we cut into other stuff to make it work. Discussion is at the end so kids who have to go home right at 7:30 can but others can stay & talk.

^Sometimes there is no game at all so we can do a longer worship set. Often I go long on teaching & small group time gets cut short. But by and large this works for us.
