When the book of James sounds like your life in a nutshell. Romans 10:9 sounds great. It almost sounds too good to be true. However, mere words does not salvation make (Matt 7:21). But a clear verse that ties these both together is Psalm 19:14. Salvation is of the heart. You can't change your heart but God can. But how can you see that it happened? By your words and your actions (book of James). Is your life lacking spiritual fruit? (Gal 5:22-23) Don't misunderstand me and think that your works save you. You are saved by God's grace alone packaged in faith alone, but your words and your ways are changed from our depraved earthly state into aligning ourselves with His. Romans 12 is also a good chapter that may help.

You know you are saved when you have accepted by faith God's plan of salvation.
God sent his son Jesus Christ into this world to die for our sins, he was burried and rose from the dead on the third day. We must accept Jesus Christ by faith in our hearts as our Lord and Savior, accepting his gift of salvation through his sacrifice on the cross for us. You must repent of your sins and accept Jesus as Lord and Savior of your life, inviting Him to guide you and tranform your life through His Word, the bible. Romans 10:9 says: That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. When you do this my friend rest assured that you WILL be saved.
