Ideas for youth theme nights?
Im wanting to do a theme night every month where the students dress up and just have some fun. I have thought of school pride night, rock star night, super hero night, and sports night. the mission behind it is to be an outreach and have fun. I just want to know what themes have you guys done that have worked.

Have you put the question out to your students at all? I'd try asking a few of them and see what ideas they come up with. 1) They might have some great ideas and 2) if you use their ideas you might end up with fewer kids not wanting to participate. |

In the past I've found that the youth guys aren't fans of dressing up in costumes for "theme nights". Some have fun with it, but I feel like the majority don't. When I was in youth I wasn't a fan...it was a lot of effort, and when your hormones are focused on impressing girls, you don't really feel like wearing tights and a cape. Girls LOVE theme nights though. If it's just "wear clothing from your favorite sports team", or "wear school colors" then that's cool. I'd stick to things like that where kids aren't having to come up with a costume. Just a thought. :) |
