The book linked below is a fantastic resource. I use it quite frequently with my youth leaders.

It's not a leadership guidenbook, per se, but Relationships Unfiltered by Andrew Root is one of the best books I've come across for helping a team think about the goals and purpose of their youth ministry.

Our team went through it this past summer and it was a great experience that helped us grow a lot.

Read a chapter. Discuss at the meeting. And pray. With a group that's so unsettled, doing just those three things for a few months will probably be a refreshing change. I think it's the Fields book you're reading that talks about waiting at least a year to make any big changes. Heed that advice. Take it slow, don't change a whole lot, and get on the same page with your team. Good luck.

With a group that experienced so much transition, they might benefit from working through Mark Devries' Sustainable Youth Ministry. It is an empowering book from the perspective of a volunteer leader and will also perhaps spark some discussion regarding ideas moving forward.
