Place for selling/trading/loaning/giving old curriculum?
Does anyone know a place where youth workers can exchange used curriculum?
That is, we might buy a curriculum (often video-based -- like Gospel Journey Maui) and use it once and not plan to use it for at least a few years (if ever), but the curriculum could totally be used by another church/ministry as well -- I'm just having difficult connecting to those ministries that would want these used curriculums.
Any swapping site or trading post specifically for ministries? There's always eBay or craigslist, but the volume of ministry curriculums there seems low.

great idea, but would check on the resale of curriculum...Here on MQ or another website to be run like a craig's list or e-bay for ministry items... |

Our church donates used Sunday School curriculum to our nearest nursing home. It gives the residents things to read, and Christian reading material at that. Obviously with all of the DVD based stuff that would be a little tougher. |

I am pretty sure that most curriculum have a statement that says it is illegal to trade or loan out curriculum. Not sure about donating to missionaries and what not in other countries. But pretty sure that we can not just give it to our friends to use. Before you start something like that make sure you check with the publisher. |

I would love to see that. From my desk I can count eight different courses that are just gathering dust on the shelf. While I don't know how copyrights play into this, I would love to make these available to another group. |

Tim, you read my mind. I think that would be a great idea to have. Also, Ryan @ pastor2youth does something similar with the ymexchange. I think that would be awesome. I have a ton of old stuff (digitally) that I would be more than willing to set up to donate. I think www.studentministry.org would be a great place for something like that. |

Hmm, that's a good idea. I wonder if I should explore adding something like that to studentministry.org. |

Being the youth pastor of a small church, I would definitely recommend that you look into smaller churches in your area. A lot of times your local association (SBC) will have a lending library set up for stuff like this. |

Any old curriculum we have we donate to an organization called love packages (lovepackages.org) they take old curriculum and repackage it as sets and take it freely to places around the world to be used by missionaries, orphanages, etc. etc. Its really a win-win, because kids who otherwise would have NO curriculum now get great stuff, and we can write-off part of what we paid as a donation, and its much better than it sitting collecting dust on our shelves or me having to try and fandangle a sale out of it. |
