We have a parent Facebook group to keep them informed and give out relevant articles and teaching topics for them as parents. We have introduced them to podcast that are for parents like minfluence.com. There is a weekly podcast that is great for parents.

I think keeping them informed in what is going on is super important but I think keeping them informed on the why the things that are happening are happening is even more important.

Our best parent-involved event of the year is our Family Campout Retreat. We go to a campground that has screened in shelters so it's not too rustic. We bring all our food and bedding. Then while we are in the woods for Fri night-Sun. morning, we have worship services and Bible study time (as family groups). Our parents have raved about this the last 2 years and we'll be doing it again next month. We also have parents who go on some of our mission camp trips which keeps them plugged in. Also, you'd think the kids would hate a family event, but they love it.

I agree with jonbatch's list wholeheartedly, and we've found that numbers 1, 4, and 6 have a much bigger impact than I expected!

Another simple thing we do is Family Service Projects. We pick a couple dates each year and schedule service projects that are good for all ages. It's a great experience and a really neat way to get different generations interacting. We started with 1 per year, and now we have requests to do it every other month. It's great!

We do mutiple things with our parents:
1. parents meeting at beginning of year, have them fill out support form.
2. we mail out a parents newsletter from CPYU
3. We encourage them to help out where it is appropriate for their family.
4. We pray for them
5. We offer them real world parent workshops
6. We keep them informed. I think this is a big one we often over look
I think it all begins with how you set up your ministry. We are very family friendly and encourage them as a family.

In partnering with parents, we invite them to participate and help in the background, listen in and help with the group discussions. We like to partner kids with adults especially since we do alot of missions building. They are accustomed to working in a youth adult partnership and develop strong adult-youth relationships. It would be my desire to someday link the seniors with the youth in some fashion.
