What works for you: Sunday or Wednesday night service? AND what is the congregation doing during those times?
Currently, We have Sunday School before our main service on Sunday mornings. I use this as a small group story with my youth (Which right now is jr high, high school, & college) . The youth all attend the "main service" and on Wednesday nights we have out "youth service" while the congregation has bible study and there are children's activities. I have a Friday night "Cafe Night" which is a hang-out activity/relationship building. I am looking for other ideas as to what other churches do. I am new....started with 2 kids....now have ave of 6-8 on Sunday AM and maybe 9-10 on Wed PM. THANKS!!

...Either Sunday, Wednesday, Friday is fine. Its really about knowing what suits YOUR young people (and ultimately their parents to a certain degree). |

Hi. I have asked this question many times. I run a youth ministry in a church of about 400 in Ireland. Our church is a VERY youth oriented church, and our main church services are much more 'youthy' than most youth groups' services. So we didn't really see a need for running a Sunday School for youth. We have our own youth church service on a Wednesday night which runs alongside our main service Bible study, only it starts 15 minutes earlier and finishes 15 minutes later. We find this ensures that parents are likely to take the trip out to bring their young people to the youth service, as there will be something for them too. When we started our Wednesday night services we had 2, we now have 40+. We also run a Friday night games night... |
