Youth Vision Meeting
I'm having a "big picture" vision meeting with our core youth and adult leaders in a few weeks and I'd love to be able to get some feedback on resources I could use that may help guide this discussion. Any feedback would be great!

I am having that same meeting tonight. I am curious as to what your vision is. I came up with a statement of purpose to define what I believe my student ministry is about and am building from there. I will cast that vision tonight to the students and adults and from that I plan to furthur develope the vision with the aid of my adult leaders by directing them with very specific tasks as I develope them into the kind of leaders I need. High Direction Low input to start off and as we move along and trust is built move to Lower direction High input. But I feel that you need to have a pretty good idea of the vision and direction first in order to move forward properly. I would love to add more but I don't think i have enough space. |

I would invite your lead pastor to the meeting as well. Even if they don't go, you build synergy with your lead pastor just by inviting them. |

I think the best resource is going to be the students, parents and leaders who were involved in the ministry last year. They can collectively give a lot of feedback, wisdom, and perspectives that we miss. Just be ready not to try to implement every idea and suggestion they all have. Use it more to get a feel for the pulse of your ministry and move forward with that information with your adult and student leaders. Tim's on point. The best resource is the students themselves. I'd also add that you need to be asking what's the vision God is putting in your heart. Great leaders lead from conviction and vision. Start there and couple with student feedback. |

"Simple Student Ministry" and "Sustainable Youth Ministry" would be too additional resources to check out. They are not as academic as the two books Steve listed, but might be more palatable for your students and parents. |

Two books that have been very influential to me are "Hurt" by Chap Clark and "Rediscovering Relational Youth Ministry" by Andrew Root. They might help if you have time to look them over. |
