is it wrong for me to use decptive moves in sports, for example fake left go right crossover, or a pump fake?
Hey have a question, i know this might sound silly, but you know in sports like for example basketball, where you perform deceptive moves, like leading the oppenent to the right and corss to the left, or faking a shot to get space, is that kind of deception wrong, is is lying? is it considered a sin, or am i just blowing this out of proportion, taking it out of context. I ask only because i want to know what is the right manner to go about things on the basketball court, on the soccer pitch and whereever i play, i know i should to my best in everything for God, and represent who is and who wer are as christians well, and was just wondering if this 'faking' thing is part of that?? Help would be good please thanks!

I was just talking to some coaches yesterday about our offensive system, motion offense, and about 30-40% of the skills to be developed in the offense is v-cuts, fake moves, fake pases and so on. It's even said that the most overlooked underutilized skill in basketball (take note all you bball coaches) is the shot fake. It all has a purpose, to create space and to break down the defense to get easy baskets. |

Absolutely not, I don't believe using fake moves or shot fakes in sports is wrong. These techniques are part of the game and I know well that these things are coached to players to utilize as a method of, like you mentioned, creating space. It's like asking if taking a charge on purpose in basketball is wrong? No way it's wrong because it's a technique that is totally legal to apply in a game to generate a turnover and gain a positive advantage for your team. |

I do not think a fake move is deceptive at all. I think that is simply part of the game. |

Absolutely not! The rules allow and encourage those kinds of moves, they do not break the rules used for that particular sport. |

I think we like to make a definitive set of rules to follow to make it easier to follow God. Sometimes we can get caught up in following these rules and loose sight of why we made the rules in the first place. |
