OK, I really don't have much to add to what these guys have said. They brought up some great things. I will respond to the last Q. "ALSO What programs are useful that are included that you would normally have to pay for using a PC?"

iWeb for making an easy website is AWEsome!
iMovie is great, now that the 09 version is out. The 08 was poopy!
Garageband, if u like to make any music or want to do a podcast and send it to iTunes! Cake!
iPhoto is a great photo collector and the new version with automatic face detection? Fogedaboutit!

That will help you support but someone already mentioned that, but I will second it!

Mac is so user friendly
Mac has NO viruses
Mac does NOT freeze, or have to be restarted
Mac DOES cost more, but well worth it!
Mac has APPLE CARE and the extra price is WELL WORTH IT!

I have been a mac user almost a year, and will NEVER go back to PC.

The best part about Macs is that they just work. The do exactly what you want it to do without all the fuss and hassle of a PC. You don't have to bloat your system with software just to keep it running (i.e. antivirus, anti malware/spyware/trojans/adware, registry cleaners, defrags, etc...).

The best part is that it's so intuitive. I took me about 30 minutes the first time I was on a Mac to have most of it figured out because it just works. The way you think something should be done, that's the way it works on a Mac. There's not tons of obscure menus or error messages that are totally unhelpful -- everything is just a pleasing, fun, easy experience.

I make my living in computers (volunteer youth worker). I use both windows and mac ALL the time. I make my real money in windows - cleaning up viruses and other malware. There are no viruses on a mac - unless you count the stealing software that you INSTALL from file sharing web sites (limewire, kazaa and bittorrent). AND porn sites - again you have to install the virus laden software. Windows will allow this stuff to install in the background without your knowledge. I can give you other reasons but not scanning my drive for viruses each time I start up the computer will do for today.

I have only spent a few hours on the Mac-side of my MacBook Pro so I don't know what the big deal is either. I just installed Boot Camp, loaded Windows Vista 64-bit, and only came back for OS upgrades, the occasional WoW play, and checking out the apps that come with Apple OS.

I am a little biased though, I write software for a living using the Microsoft platform and run a blog community dedicated to Microsoft development.

Get you an Mighty Mouse and Apple Bluetooth Keyboard to properly accessorize your MacBook!

I think people are neglecting the biggest perk...entry into a cult. When you buy a Mac, you pay a little more (they're a little more expensive). It's not because you're getting a better computer. The extra money is the cult membership dues.

They look bright and shiny and don't confuse you with a lot of extra buttons. (Who needs those functions anyway?)

That and using them ensures you're the cool guy and not the nerdy "I'm a PC" dude.

Yup. I'll try and pretend you didn't ask this.

But here's a link:
